Limestone County, keeping open the flow of inmates into the county, has renewed the contract with Travis County for housing male inmates in the Limestone Detention Center. Limestone receives $44 a day for each inmate.
In conjunction with the detention center, the Limestone Commissioners' Court okayed $4,400 for installation of a kitchen pump.
In other action, Commissioners voted to pay bills incurred since the prior meeting; approved a renewal bond encompassing the entire Juvenile Probation Department; approved investments of $385,000 with the TexPool Fund, and left off the burn ban for outdoor burning throughout the county.
The county's governing body was apprised of some needed repairs and other problems at the Limestone Juvenile Detention Center.
"There are some things we are addressing at the juvenile center," said County Judge Daniel Burkeen.
The parking lot is receiving repairs at the Limestone County Fairgrounds, Commissioners were told. Updates and other minor repairs are being made at the Fairgrounds, readying for the big County Show coming in the Spring.
In other business, the Commission:
[149] Approval Sheila Winn as front office clerk in the Sheriff's Department.
[149] Approved about $9,000 for purchase and installation of new carpeting in the Adult Probation Department. [149] Apprived the purchase of new computer equipment for the Limetone Extension office, located in the courthouse basement.
[149] Approved installation and construction on shower facilities for the Road and Bridge Department. Commissioners also were told of additional maintenance projects, which will be announced soon.
[149] Approved a utility line agreement for an upcoming project in Precinct 1 on Limestone County Road 800.
The Road and Bridge Department is in the midst of selling off some old equipment no longer in use.
"Some of this will be sold as scrap, while other items will be disposed of by auction," Judge Burkeen said.
