Taylor Reed, 85, of Coolidge died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Mexia Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. today (Saturday, Feb. 27) at Union Memorial United Methodist Church in Coolidge with the Rev. Willie Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Cemetery in Sandy Community.
Mr. Reed was born July 28, 1924, in Sandy Community. He was a member of Union Memorial United Methodist Church and Pride of Coolidge Lodge #282. He lived most of his life in Sandy, where he farmed and worked at the Mexia State School.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Reed, sons Archie T. and Ruby of Waco, Donald Ray and Sharon of Mexia, Anthony of Mexia, Alvin Ike Bradley of Sandy and Calon Bradley of Mexia; daughters Margaret and Elijah Burks of Sandy, Dee Ann and Roy Mack of Mexia, Merkie Lee and Malcoln Brooks of Wortham, Pamela Lockhart of Wortham, Sheneita and L.D. Johnson of Wortham and Alishia Bradley of Sandy; brothers Lenworth and Naomi Reed and Robert and Dorothy Reed, all of Dallas; sisters Vera Livingston and Bessie Jane Hobbs, both of Dallas and Eliza Morgan of Sandy; and 45 grandchildren.
Pearly Gates Funeral Home staff will serve as pall bearers. Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home of Mexia is in charge of arrangements.
