Appalled

Dear Citizens of the Wortham ISD Community,

I was appalled recently at the fact that the Wortham Independent School District would not pay for the Horse Judging Tearn of the Wortharn FFA to go to the state competition at Lubbock, Texas.

The students and their farnilies had to get out and ask for donations so that they could go to this competition.

I always heard that the Wortham Schools had a unique way of teaching and in my opinion this is very unique to pay for other activities, but to not allow these very worthy students the same honor.

I don’t know by whose authority this decision was made but I do feel these students were discriminated against. After all, they are also students of Wortham ISD.

My husband and I own a house in Wortham and I know how much we pay for the school taxes. Therefore, I urge the citizens of Wortham to keep this in mind the next time they go to the polls to elect the people that are in charge of making decisions and rules for the Wortham ISD, so that all of the students are treated fairly.

Sincerely,

LaJuan Richardson

A concerned grandmother
