Letters to the Editor for 05-08

Dear Bob,

So many times we only report only the negative about the youth of today, but this past weekend at Mexia High School, we definitely saw some of the best in our youth. Teenagers from Wortham, Mexia, Teague, Groesbeck and Fairfield came together to present Disney’s High School Musical to huge crowds all weekend. The Sunday show was filled to capacity which says a lot about our teenagers.

These teenagers gave up most of their summer to work on this project, and in doing so gained lasting friendships. Going into this we had no idea what to expect, but we soon realized that this was a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. The enthusiasm, dedication and hardwork of these local teenagers definitely made an impact on all of the adults who also worked on the project.

I want to say a special thank you to Mexia Daily News and to you Bob for the support in the newspaper for this project of High School Musical. You see the importance of our youth and we appreciate your continued support.

Thank you to everyone who came out and saw High School Musical. Our teenagers were so humbled and amazed at the turnout at every show as well as the kind words that were said to them after each show. You truly made a difference in their lives.

Thank you to the Mexia ISD superintendent, Charlene Simpson and our local school board who believes in the fine arts in our area. It makes a difference in the lives of our kids.

Thank you to the parents of these teenagers who drove them to rehearsal . . .waited patiently each evening for rehearsal to end, as well as doing whatever we needed to make High School Musical a success.

And finally a big thank you to our sponsors, Mexia Theatre Project values your support and could not bring a little Broadway into our area without you . . .Mullenax and Daughter, Kay Kreations, Double D Food and Fuel/Subway, Alan’s Tire and Service, Parkview Regional Hospital, Stephen Dorman/KSA Engineers, Inc. Guaranty Bank, First National Bank, The Honorable and Mrs. Ray Jones, JP Precinct 4, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Craig, Mr. and Mrs. Travis Mills, Mrs. Peggy Champion, The Trinity Institute, and Coca Cola.

We look forward to bringing Seussical the Musical to Mexia in the Fall!

Dwayne Craig
