Two places to be filled in Saturday election

By Bob Wright-Editor

Two places are to be filled Saturday by voters in the Mexia Independent School District.

Places 4 and 5 are on the ballot - Brian Johnson and Gordon Lee are seeking the Place 4 post, which has been held by Roxianne Schuster, who chose not to seek re-election.

Bert Harrison is seeking re-election, and is being challenged by Stephana High.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Votes will be cast at the Mexia Civic Center.

Early voting ended Tuesday. It was conducted at the schools’ Administration Building.

The “new” board will face some critrical issues over the ensuing months, but none more important than making a final decision on selection of a Superintendent to lead the district. Right now, a search firm is in the process of selecting, then taking names to the board for action.

Over the next few weeks, trustees will have meetings to discuss all of this with search firm representative Dr. Russell Marshall of Mabank, where he is Superintendent of schools. He represents the firm of Arrow Educational Services, based in Henderson.
