Scholarship Assembly is Wednesday

The annual Scholarship Assembly Program for Mexia High School will be this Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock in the high school auditorium. The public is invited to witness this much-anticipated and impressive presentations of scholarships to our seniors.

The scholarships come from more than 65 donors, both local and extending to other schools and universities, as well as from various branches of the Military.

The Counselors’ office of Mexia High School provides reminders to the students to seek the scholarships, and also provides publicity and applications, but has no responsibility in the selection process.



Shiloh Center needs help

The Shiloh Community Center needs your contributions, time and ideas, says Marion Herring. “We need this for maintenance and upkeep of the Center,” Herring adds. He says those interested are to meet on second Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. “It’s just a matter of a small community, facing a struggle,” Marion adds. Grayson Chapel revival

The Grayson Chapel Church’s Spring Revival will get underway Wednesday night and continue through Thursday and Friday nights at 7 o’clock each night. Pastor Paul Cross of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and Pastor Anthony Harper of New Hope Church will preach.



Limestones seniors group to meet

The advisory council of the Limestone County Senior Services Project will meet Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Groesbeck Seniors Center, 510 West State Street.

Rosalie Null of Kosse will be introduced as the new manager of the Thornton Seniors Center. Nelda Popejoy, county Transit Director, will make her monthly report. Each Center is also due to make reports to the council.



Sundowner sponsors benefit

The Sundowner will have a benefit for Neil Windland this coming Saturday. Windland is past-Commander of Lancaster Post 4694, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Everyone is invited to attend and to “show your patriotic support for a veteran in need,” says current Commander, David Graham. The benefit will include a barbecue meal, a 50/50 drawing and an auction. The benefit will start at noon. Karaoke will follow later in the day.
