Groesbeck Council to update pool, discuss city personnel

GROESBECK - The Groesbeck City Council will meet this evening; Among items are to approval repairs and updaters for the city swimming pool, and a discussion (with possible action) concerning three departments - Police, Administration and Public Works.

Several “housekeeping” matters are also on the agenda - Results of Saturday’s city election are to be canvassed, the newly-elected Mayor and Council members are to be sworn in, and two appointments are due - Mayor Pro-tem and Deputy Mayor Pro-tem at the 6 o’clock meeting, to be held at Groesbeck Civic Center, 105 East Navasota Street.

In other action, the Council is due to okay submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application; okay a contract with KSA Engineers for services; waive the building fee for the new Limestone County Show Barn and adopt a revised ordinance for the policy on RV Park development.

Other items include approval for paying April bills; hearing monthly department heads’ reports; accept the resignation of Frances Bennett from the Maffett Memorial Library board of directors; consider approval for filling the Bennett vacancy and consider a proposal for City Park swimming pool improvements. The latter item is for painting the pool house area and for purchasing a new filter vacuum for cleaning the pool.

Other agenda items include approval of a resolution for issuance of a warrant on a fire truck; okay installation of a carpet in the upstairs Public Works office and the fire meeting room; okay the purchase of office furnituture and equipment for the Public Works and Fire Chief Secretary, and review improvements to the Water Treatment Plant.
