Kosse Homecoming, Rodeo set for next week

On June 13 & 14 at 8 p.m. the Kosse Homecoming Rodeo will take place at the rodeo arena located 1 mile north of Kosse on HWY 14. The rodeo will be an UPRA-CPRA coapproved rodeo; local riders are welcome to participate.

The events include calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, barrel racing, bull riding, ladies breakaway and bare back. The entry fees are $70 for all events except for team roping and they are $140. The call in day for bareback, saddle bronc. bullriding, and team roping is Monday June 9th from 5 to 10 p.m. at 903-395-9237. If you want to enter the steer wrestling. tie down breakaway, or barrel racing you need to call in on Tuesday June 10th from 5 to 10 p.m. at 903-395-9237.

“This year we are also having novice bare back and saddle bronc,” a spokesperson says. The entry fee for these two novice events will be $25. There is no added money for these novice events.

“We will have Jr. Barrel Racing (16 & under) and muttin bustin (50# limit, ages 6 & under. Jr. Barrels entry fee is $25 and will be jackpotted each night.” The entry fee for the muttin bustin is $10 and prizes will be given away nightly to the muttin bustin winners. If you wish to enter your children in Muttin Bustin or Jr.Barrels you need to call in on Monday, June 9th to 254-375-2335 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. This call in is ONLY for the MUTTIN BUSTIN & JR BARRELS. There is no added money in these two events.

There is a total of $2,100 added money. The bull ridding and saddle bronc has $700 added money to each, bare back has $200 added money, and the timed events have $100 added to each event.

All horses must have a negative coggins with them before entering the rodeo grounds.

There will be a calf scramble for the kids 12 and under. We are also selling raffle tickets for a chance to win the following...(l) 1 year old sorrel quarter horse (donated by Bobby Yancey, (2) two $25 gift certificates from Rusty’s Western Wear in Mexia, (3) $25 gift certificate to Springtime Stop in Bremond, and (4) $25 gift certificate to the Kosse Cafe. These tickets are 6 for $5 or $1 each. The drawing will be held on Saturday, June 14th at the rodeo and you do not have to be present to win. If you win the horse and do not want it; Mr.Yancey will purchase the horse from you for $1,000. You can purchase these tickets from any Kosse Roping Club member now thru Saturday night, June 14th at the rodeo. Good Luck! !
