Parkview Presents “Recognizing Symptoms of Depression in Senior Adults”

MEXIA, TX - A free seminar hosted by Parkview Regional Hospital on “Recognizing Symptoms of Depression in Senior Adults” will take place on Friday, June 6 at 5:30 pm in the Tommy Flatt Classroom at Parkview.

The speaker for the seminar will be Dr. Fernando Torres, Psychiatric Director for Parkview’s new inpatient Senior Care Services Unit. Dr. Torres, a Psychiatrist and Flight Surgeon who obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, recently joined the active medical staff at Parkview. A native Texan, Dr. Torres is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force.

Parkview opened the Senior Care Services Unit in April under the nursing direction of Anne Turner, RN. Dedicated to the clinical psychiatric challenges in aging adults, the inpatient unit is the only one of its kind in the hospital’s service area.

“Symptoms & Treatment

for Stroke” at Parkview Regional Hospital

A free seminar hosted by Parkview Regional Hospital on “Symptoms & Treatment for Stroke” will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:00 pm in the Tommy Flatt Classroom at Parkview.

The speaker for the seminar will be Dr. Jonathan Friedman of Texas Brain and Spine Institute in Bryan/College Station. A board certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Friedman received his medical degree from the University of California and completed his residency with the Mayo Clinic. Following his residency, he joined the faculty of Dartmouth Medical School, where he was co-director of the Stroke Program.

Beginning last month, Dr. Friedman began seeing patients in the Parkview Specialty Clinic in Mexia. His specialties include aneurysms, vascular malformations, carotid disease, brain tumors, cervical and lumbar stenosis, cervical and lumbar disc disease and traumatic brain injury.
