Wortham ISD due anti-drug program
By Bob Wright-Editor
WORTHAM - The Wortham Independent School District is to approve a contract providing for some anti-drug measures when the school board meets Monday night at 6:30.
Trustees, who will meet in the high school library, are due to okay the pact with a drug-dog company for the 2008-2009 school year. The program providing for this is known as K.I.D.S.
In other action, the board will administer the oath of office to a new trustee, hear monthly reports from Administrators, consider and/or approve a budget amendment and okay a Local Board Policy update.
Other agenda items include a “No Idle Policy,” approve a shared-services arrangement with Region 12 Education Service Center, approve the district’s Employee Handbook and the Student Handbook, and will probably give the go-ahead to a new sidewalk, connecting the Elementary and Kindergarten through first grade buildings.
Other items include the approval of employee benefits for the ensuing school year, discuss an “employee growth plan and standard contract,” then act upon contracts for an Elementary School physical education teacher/coach, a high school English teacher, and Elementary Counselor and approve the contract for an Elementary School Reading Interventionist.
