FSA seeks nominations
The Limestone/Freestone counties’ Farm Service Agency (FSA) is accepting nominations for the 2008 County Committee election through Aug. 1. Anyone who fails to receive a ballot should contact the Limestone/Freestone County FSA Office to obtain a replacement ballot. Please contact the local FSA office at 729-2310 should questions arise.
Little Zion having Ladies in Red
Little Zion Baptist Church, 1214 East Commerce, will present its Ladies in Red program on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 3, at 3 o’clock. Everyone is welcome to attend, says the pastor, the Rev. Lawrence Bernard.
St. Paul’s ‘Men of Valor’
TEAGUE - St. Paul A.M.E. Church, corner of Busby and Monroe streets-Teague, will host its “Men of Valor” program, teaching Gods’ way by example, this Sunday afternoon at 3:30. The Rev. Michael Waters and his choir from the Greater Garth A.M.E. Church of Dallas, will be guest preacher. The public is invited. A dinner will be served immediately after the service. The Rev. Mittie C. Muse, Jr., is pastor.
Mt. Pleasant sets Homecoming
Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where the Rev. Johnny Moss is pastor, will celebrate its 51st annual Homecoming on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 3. Guest congregation will be Lone Star Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Raben, pastor, will be the speaker. “We invite you to come and receive a blessing,” a spokesperson said.
Singles to dance
The Mexia Chapter, Texas Association of Single Adults, will sponsor a singles dance this Sunday night from 6 until 10 at the Hewitt VFW Post 725, Sun Valley Boulevard, Waco. Music will be furnished by the Bradshaw Gang. No shorts or halter tops allowed. All singles 21 and older are invited.
Academic books closing
The books for the Academic Sweater program will be closed on July 31. If you wish to make a donation to this program, you must do so before July 31.
