Kosse baby girl’s death being investigated

On Oct. 31 at approximately 9:48 a.m. the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a medical emergency at 1079 LCR 705 in Kosse. The caller reported her three month old baby girl had been sleeping for approximately three hours when she later discovered the baby in her crib was discolored.

Limestone Medical Center responded to this address with an ambulance crew and after arriving at the above address the baby was transported to Limestone Medical Center. Later during the morning on this date, Justice of the Peace Precint 4 Judge Ray Jones was summoned to the Limestone Medical Center to pronounce the death of this child. Judge Jones ordered an autopsy to be performed on this baby girl.

The body was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for additional medical investigation. The victim has been identified as being Dena McCreery, white female, date of birth: July 24, 2006. Her parents are Todd and Stacia McCreery who also reside at the above listed address.

Sheriff Dennis D. Wilson stated, “This is a tragic death any time we must deal with small children. My investigators will continue to be involved with this call for service. Our office has also notified Child Protective Services for additional services in this death investigation. An official cause of death will be made by Judge Jones at a later date.”
