Record Broken on Lake Waco

A Robinson angler fishing in a bass club tournament on Lake Waco caught a bass that weighed in at 13.87 pounds. He was fishing in about 15 feet of water casting near a submerged log with a Baby Brush Hawg lure when he hit it.

This fish is the first one big enough to get in the share a lunker over 13 pounds.

The Fresh Water Fisheries Division canceled their plans for the day to come get the fish.

The catch comes as no surprise to anglers who fish the lake due to the water level being raised about seven feet and new habitat was made for the fish.

The fish is the kind most of us only hope to catch. Bigger and better fish will probably be caught on Lake Waco in years to come.

As I have said before, the Redbud trees are in bloom, spawning is in season, and now is the time to catch that big ol’ gooden’.

The Mexia Bass Club will meet on the 25th. They will be discussing their annual out of town trip. So, President Buddy Borden says, ‘you need to be there to vote’.
