Lake Waco - Ricky Culverhouse - 13.87; Richland Chambers - Jeremy Bruton - 13.05; Lake Amistad - Devine’s McIntyre 13.39; Lake Fork - Brian Seibenmorgen - 13.29; Lake Fork - Cal Lamb - 237th bass from Lake Fork over 13 pounds; Sam Rayburn - Robert Taylor - 13.25.
Quite a few bass have been caught this spring around ten pounds. Also, a good number of fish have been caught and released to be caught again some day.
How to share your big bass with the program at Athens , Texas. Call David Campbell at 888-784-0060. He will come and pick your fish up and take him to the Texas Fresh Water Fisheries Center in Athens. You will receive a replica mount of your fish and it will be released back into the lake where it was caught.
There have been four bass over 17 pounds caught at Lake Fork since the program began 22 years ago. To catch one of these lunkers, your fishing gear will have to be in good shape when he hits it or you don’t get him.
The Mexia Bass Club will fish Lake Waco on the 10th and 11th for their May tournament. Same ramp, but check with the group for starting and weigh-in times.
The answer to this “Are the fish biting?” is yes - in some lakes the rain has been off color and fishing is not so good.
In closing - wear your life jackets, you might them most any time! —- W. C.
