Funeral arrangements for David West are pending at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia. Mr. West died Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, in Parkview Regional Hospital.

Johnnie Alvin Green
Funeral services for Johnnie Alvin Green, 77, of Coolidge were held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 in First Baptist Church in Coolidge. Interment followed in the Coolidge Cemetery.
Visitation with the family was from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia.
Pallbearers were Ronald Green, Roger Green, Danny Pickens, Mark Abernathy, Reagan Jacobs, and Ronnie Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were Soap Osborne, Pete Willard, Clyde Woodard, Bob Wright, Homer Copley, Smoky Wade, and Kenneth Gardner.
Johnnie Alvin Green left this earth to enter Heaven on April 25, 2008. Shortly after visiting with friends at a local store, Alvin passed away at his home in Coolidge from a massive heart attack.
Alvin was born February 20, 1931 in Purdon, Texas as the second son of Sam and Myra Green. He was a second generation farmer, working for Blake Smith, Jr. on land in Coolidge and Mexia. Alvin spent his life tending to land and cattle. He had a deep love of the land. He loved plowing the fields, planting seeds and watching his crops grow.
Fishing was a passion and an enjoyment for Alvin, who was known in the area for his fishing skills. He enjoyed entertaining friends and having fish fries. He enjoyed deer hunting, dove hunting and he loved baseball.
Alvin graduated from Prairie Hill High School in 1949. He then went to Dallas to attend college, but soon found that his heart had remained in Coolidge. He returned to Coolidge, and married the one true love of his life, Doris Burke Green, on April 14,1951.
Alvin was drafted into the Army in 1955. He was stationed in Germany, and returned home to his wife in 1957. A year later, their son Richard was born, then 4 years later, their daughter, Sharon arrived. Alvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He went above and beyond the role of father, and his happiness and meaning in life was always his wife and children. While Alvin and Doris only had two children of their own, his love and patience with children carried over to many whom he loved and helped as his own.
Alvin was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Most who knew him found it hard to believe that he was actually a very shy person. He loved to laugh and tease to help hide his shyness.
While always living and working the farm, Alvin also worked for over 20 years at Nucor Steel in Jewett, TX. He was president of the Coolidge School Board during the 1970s and 1980s and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his granddaughter, Lauren; his parents and his brother, Dewey Green.
Survivors are his son, Richard Green and wife, Robin of Mexia, TX; his daughter, Sharon Green Riendfliesch of Riesel, TX.; his grandchildren, Meagan Green, Jacob Moore and Jordan Moore, also of Riesel; his sister, Betty Lemanski and husband, Frank of Bellmead; sister-in-law, Bobbie Green of Mexia; a special nephew, Roger Green of Longview,who was like a son; nieces, LuAnn Pickens of Axtell and Lisa Abernathy of Granbury; nephew, Ronald Green of Bryan, several great-nieces and great-nephews, along with 2 great-great nephews and one great-great niece.
