Manuel Earl “Buck” Johnson
Mr. Johnson passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 at his residence in Groesbeck, Texas.
Viewing will begin Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home and a wake service will be held from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Head Branch Baptist Church 605 McClinic Drive, Goresbeck, Texas with the family present. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Head Branch Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. E. B. Cashaw officiating. Interment will be in the Lone Star Cemetery in Groesbeck.
Survivors include: His children: Pamela Gonner, Berron Gonner and Manuel Bluitt all of Groesbeck; His brothers and sisters: Johnny Ruth Gieger, Evelyn Coleman, Edna Keaton, Clarissa Jennings, all of Dallas; Margaret Beachum and Dora Mae Harper of Mexia; Charles Jones, Lynette West, Novella Collins, Betty Forge all of Groesbeck; Annie Lee Petty and Mary Hodge of Oakland, California; and His Grandchildren: Christopher, Brenton and DeMarcus Gonner; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Curry Jo Boesch
Curry Jo Boesch, teacher and businesswoman, died on Monday, April 28, 2008, after a recent series of illnesses. She was born on July 21, 1924 in Mexia, Texas to Curry and Ethel McElroy.
She attended Baylor University and Stephen F. Austin State University, receiving Bachelors and Masters Degrees. While at Baylor, she met Gus Boesch, an Aggie from Whitney, Texas. In 1943, they were married and she moved to Lufkin during World War II.
She taught school in Lufkin Independent Schools for 35 years. She retired from teaching in 1984, and after the death of her husband, Gus, in 1990, assumed proprietorship of Boesch Farm Realty, which she operated until the time of her death.
Mrs. Boesch was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary teachers’ sorority, a charter member of Lufkin Service League and The Sewing Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lufkin, where she was a longtime member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and in leadership positions over the years. She loved music, travel, reading and had a wide variety of friends and interests.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gus and Martha Boesch of Claremont, California; nieces and nephew, Julie Castleberry, Jill Adams, both of Lufkin, Jan Showers and Steve Smith, both of Hillsboro; other family members; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Cooper Castleberry, Trey Castleberry, David Bradford, Joe Taylor, Lawrence (Sparky) Sparks and Jay Perry.
Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Boesch’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lufkin, 106 E. Bremond, Lufkin, Texas 75901; Kurth Memorial Library, 706 S. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75901; or to the charity of your choice.
Services for Mrs. Boesch will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Lufkin, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
