David Lee West, Sr.
David Lee West, Sr., answered his call on April 26, 2008, at Parkview Regional Hospital.
Visitation was scheduled for today (Friday, May 2, 2008) from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia.
Funeral services for David Lee West, Sr., will be held Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, at 11 o’clock in Antioch Baptist Church, 610 North Denton Street in Mexia. The Rev. Cleo High will officiate. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery in the Woodland community (Limestone County).
Mr. David Lee West, Sr., was born to Mr. Clifford West and Ms. Mollie Reed, who preceded him in death.
Mr. West received his education in the New Home School District in Limestone County. He united with Antioch Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Brotherhood and as a Trustee until his health failed him.
He enlisted into the United States Navy where he received an Honorable discharge. He was employed at various jobs for many years in Odessa. Mr. West was employed by the Chevrolet Company and the Kerzee Company in Mexia, and later started his own business, the David West Repair Company.
Mr. West married Mrs. Lila Faye Simmons, and to this union one son was born.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, David West, Jr.; a grandson, Milton Kilgore and wife LeSharee of Fort Worth; four God sisters - Maltilda Jackson and Ruby E. Lewis of Dallas, Nellie Williams and husband Robert, and Isabell Grandberry and husband Hamp of Mexia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pearly Gates Funeral Home-Mexia is in charge of arrangements for the David West family.

Elsa Mae Wallace

Elsa Mae Wallace was born July 31, 1924, to the union of Joshua and Elma Mack. She was the first of 14 children, and was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers - Arthur (Woodie) and Rayford Lee Mack, Sr., and one grandson, Oshima Kenivel Calhoun. She went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2008.
Elsa was born in Kosse, Texas and relocated to Mexia, Texas after marrying the late Jay Lee Wallace, Sr.
On June 8, 1946, Elsa and the late Jay Lee Wallace, Sr., were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union two daughters and four sons were born.
Up until her health failed her, she was an active member at the Union Baptist Church for many years. Later she moved her membership to the New Hope Baptist Church in Tehuacana, TX.
Visitation is scheduled for today (Friday) from 1 until 6 p.m. at Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home in Mexia, and on Saturday morning from 9 until 10. The body will not be viewed during the service.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five brothers - Isaiah, Joshua, Jr., Willie, Billy and Roy Mack; six sisters - Cleo, Lula, Lillie, Dorothy, Helen and Ruth; six children - Jessie McNeil of Austin, Sandra Kinney of Mexia, Melvin Wallace of Palestine, Walter Wallace and wife Lovie of Kyle, Eugene Wallace and wife Shannon of Del Valle, and Jay Lee Wallace, Jr., and wife Tracey of Killeen.
Also surviving are grandchildren - Victor Busby and wife Misty, Kimberly White of Austin, Clarence Jones and wife Roshuna of Mexia, LaShun Williams and wife Scarlett of Port Arthur, Erica Jones of Arlington, Melvica Amos of Dallas, Dionne Cephus and husband Chris of Houston, Jason Wallace and Eric Wallace of Kyle, Tyce Jackson of Sacramento, California, Bryan Wallace of Killeen, Jada Wallace of Sacramento, California, Michael Wallace of Del Valle, Jennifer Rogers of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Terrance and Tyra Banks of England Rock, Arkansas, and Chimere Dancer of Mexia.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren - Kabrisha Jones, Brittany White, Denzel Busby, Breeon White, Victoria Busby, Jaylan Busby, Kamille White, Amendolyn Williams, Kaegun Williams, Isaac Griffin, Aaron Williams, Ty Oliver and Christopher Bradley.
Also surviving are a special friend, Tom Tatum; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
