Virgie Mae Tweedle

Virgie Mae Tweedle, 74, of Mexia, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Funeral services will be Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Porter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harvey Hallmark and Pastor Brian Hallmark officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Family visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Virgie was born May 9, 1933 in Brady, Texas to Raymond Ray & Birdie Mae Pabst. On November 12, 1949 she married the love of her life, Howard Tweedle and to that union six children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Ray & Birdie Mae Pabst; brothers, Charles Pabst and Clayton Pabst.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Tweedle of Mexia; daughters, Carol Killingsworth & husband, Johnny of Mexia and Jimmie Lou Laymance & husband, Terry of Brownsboro; sons, Darrell Tweedle & wife, Sally, Freddy Mack Tweedle & wife, Lisa C., Danny Tweedle & wife, Angela and Howard Tweedle, Jr. & wife, Lisa V. all of Mexia; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Pabst of Belton and Nolan Pabst of Lago Vista; sister, Irene Williamson of Bertram and numerous nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Daniel DeVore, Brad Townsend, Chance Guest, Chris Winkler, Justin Germundsen and Jerry Current, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Laymance, Brian Laymance, Jason Tweedle and Clint Tweedle.

Doris Jean Long

HOUSTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Jean Levingston Long, 65, former Mexia resident, will be conducted Saturday morning, May 10, 2008, in Greater Saint Matthew Baptist Church at Houston. Rev. Booker, pastor, will conduct the service.

Also a former resident of Dallas and Wichita Falls, Mrs. Long was a member of the Greater Saint Matthew Baptist Church.

She was born in Limestone County on May 21, 1942.

Mrs. Long died May 6, 2008, in Houston.

Surviving are two brothers - J.L. Levingston of Mexia and Oliver (Hot Shot) Levingston of Houston, and a sister, Ruby Faye Lacy Robinson.

Mrs. Long was the daughter of Oliver (Tom) and Beatrice Levingston of Mexia.

Funeral arrangements are under direction of Mabrie Memorial Mortuary of Houston.

Billy Pinkerton

Graveside services for Billy Pinkerton, 45, of Littlefield, will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Officiating will be Randy Ayers. Family visitation is scheduled for this evening (Friday) from 6 until 8 o’clock at Porter Funeral Home-Mexia.

Mr. Pinkerton, born in Dallas on May 28, 1962, died May 6, 2008, in Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock.

Surviving are his parents, Connie and Tom Barker of Littlefield; a son, Keith Pinkerton and wife Mikca of Lubbock; a daughter, Ashley Pinkerton of Groesbeck; sisters - Jo Tisdale of Littlefield and Debbie Williams and husband Kenneth of Littlefield; grandchildren - Jesse Duke, Alyek and Rylie; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
