Elvis Thomas Ward

Elvis Thomas Ward, 82, of Mexia passed away May 12, 2008 at his home in Mexia. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home chapel with Brother Bill Wright, Sr. and Elder Sammie D. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Elvis was born January 16, 1926 in Shiloh, Texas to Alton Zack & Iva Vae Ward. He served his country in the Phillippines during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Zack Ward; mother, Iva Vae Fleming Ward; the mother of his children, Billie Jean Pollard Ward and son, William Thomas Ward.

Elvis is survived by his wife, Lois Ouida Pruitt Freed Ward; daughter & son-in-law, Janiece & Richard Peterson of Dallas; son, Bobby James Ward of Mexia; grandson, Brian Alan Sharp & wife, Jeannine; great granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Sharp; step children; Martha Beal of Teague; Billy Dale Freed of Shiloh, Marilyn & husband, David Adams of Toledo Bend and James Robert Freed; step grandchildren, James David Freed, Robert Daniel & wife Mollie, Robert Allen Beal III, Sandra Freed, Elizabeth Ann Franklin, Christie Dale Herring and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Justin Pruitt, James David Freed, Robert Daniel Freed, Preston Freed, C.R. Dunnahoe and Kennedy Bedford. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Pruitt and Andy Padgett.
