Charles Elton Day

Charles Elton Day, 84, of Shiloh passed away July 30, 2008. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 in the Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honor Guards in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 7:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Mr. Day was born in Mexia, November 28, 1923 to Charles Mitchell and Pearly Jane (Azbell) Day. Mr. Day received a BBA from Baylor University in 1949. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He had been an employee of Mexia Industrial Products for 35 years. Mr. Day, also, enjoyed working on his farm. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 65years, Edna LaVerne (Fortson) Day, son, Charles Galen Day and wife, Patricia Maurine of Mexia, and daughter, Gina Gail Crossley and husband, Waylen Glen of Teague; grandchildren: Michael Jason , Jeromy Alan and Alysha Michelle Donaho and Kala Briann Van Winkle; great grandchildren: Dallas Grace, Sierra Chyanne, Harley Jace, Heaven Lee and Jessica Lynn Donaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Fortson, James Fortson, Danny Ray Fortson, Kennen Jackson, Bill Davis and Al Davis.

Phyllis Boone

Phyllis Ruth Mullins Boone was born May 21, 1937 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to G. D. Mullins and Anna Ruth Polk Mullins. She was called home on July 31, 2008. She was greatly loved and touched the lives of many relatives, friends, and coworkers, who will fondly and joyfully hold her memory alive forever.

Phyllis was a graduate of Abilene Christian University and taught elementary school for over 35 years, including 5 years at McBay Elementary in Mexia. She possessed a special ability, that of being able to reach into the hearts of children and let them know that they were loved and special. Phyllis was a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ family and shared her love of Christ by actively participating in the chorus, Ladies Bible Class, the church van program, and teaching children’s Bible classes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, G. D. and Anna Ruth Polk Mullins, and a brother, Gerald Holmes Mullins.

She is survived by a son, Paul Clay Boone of Dallas, grandchildren Laura Elizabeth Boone and John Michael Boone of Bullard, TX, sisters Patricia Gregory of Benson, AZ, Wilda Coffman and husband Ted of Longview, TX, Pam Little and husband Lanny of Mexia, TX, and sister-in-law Valaree Hathaway of Mexia, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Prather, Bobby Bailey, Jeff Craig and nephews Dennis Samford, Rick Schell, and Jason Little. Honorary pallbearers are elders and deacons of Northcrest Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, TX. A service celebrating her life will be Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Northcrest Church of Christ in Mexia, TX. Interment will be at Mexia Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, Mexia Academic Scholarship Fund, or Northcrest Church of Christ.
