The only downer to Tuesday night’s Superintendent search meeting at the Administration Building revolved around other events taking place in town at the same time. Cutting down on what would undoubtedly resulted in a larger turnout. In addition to the search meeting, a Boy Scout reunion and Court of Honor were held at a local church, and the Band Boosters had a meeting, partly designed to allow boosters to meet the new Band Director. So, several conflicts cut down attendance at the Administration Buillding...

A man who was a bit disgruntled about some e-mail he received, had this to say - “To all my friends who in 2007 sent me best ‘wishes’, chain letters, ‘angel’ letters or other promises of good luck if I forwarded something, NONE OF THAT STUFF WORKED! For 2008, could you please just send money, chocolate, movie tickets or gasoline vouchers and airline tickets instead? Thank you!”

The Mexia School Board, following the search meeting Tuesday, went into executive session withk Dr. Russell MARSHALL, here representing the firm of Arrow Educational Services. Of course, no action was taken once back into open meeting. The timeline for naming a Superintendent should roll around sometime next month...

Some time back we were talking about the 1947 Mexia football team which went as far as was allowed in those days - to Regional. Mexia went unbeaten that season, with a 12-0 record. I’d said that Claude NUSSBAUM could be the only one living here, or in the area. Others whio stuck around to make their homes in Mexia or in the Mexia area are Allen JOHNSTON, Benny LUCAS and Johnny FLETCHER. There might be more. If so, I’m sure I’ll hear about it...
