Howard Eugene Awalt

Howard Eugene Awalt, 64, of Mexia, passed away July 11, 2013, in Mexia.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Hallmark of­fi­ciating.
Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Howard was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Pratt, Kan., to Ocie and Patsy Freeman Awalt. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Sam Houston State University. He worked for Lide Industries prior to becoming ill.

Howard’s world was his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He also took great pride in working and landscaping his sister’s yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include one son, Cliff Collier, of Lou­i­si­a­na; two grandchildren, Summer and Winter Collier; two sisters, Linda Dyer, of Mexia, and Brenda Sanders, of Ar­ling­ton; his fiancee, Kim Ridge; and a number of nie­ces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Hooper, James Eakins, Tommy Dabney Jr., Zach Dabney, Will Dabney, Rodney Starks and Richard Heard.
