Yellowjackets crush Bynam

After a disappointing, 44-32 opening loss to Aquilla, the Coolidge Yellowjackets made their home debut at Yellowjacket Field and completely dominated longtime rival Bynum to the tune of 53-0, giving new Coach Randy Jones his first victory.
Coolidge scored all 53 points in the first half, giving the Yellowjackets the win via the 45-point mercy rule. With only 35 seconds gone in the fame, Delvin Smith romped in from 39 yards out. The point-after failed.
Two minutes later, Carlos Sarraniego pitched a TD pass of 10 yards to Luis Acevedo. Still in the first period, Joe Brown jolted in from 14 yards out and the point made the score 19-0. Again, minutes later, Smith found Ro’Derick Calhoun for 14 yards and the pass for an extra point made it 26-0.
In the opening minute of the second quarter, Calhoun picked up a Bynum fumble and raced in from 19 yards out. Later in the quarter, Smith rambled in for an 8-yard touchdown and the point-after made it 39-0. Smith then threw a beauty to Calhoun for 38 yards. The point after to Pablo Olguin made the score 46-0.
Coolidge closed out the fame on Brown’s nifty 34-yard run. With the point-after, the sccore was 53-0.
Eddie Rivera, Victor Milus, Smith, Calhoun, Sarraniego, Acevedo, Darian McClendon, Joe Brown and Deandre Kirvin all performed well in the game.
This Friday, Sept. 13, the Yellowjackets travel to Trinidad to take on the unbeaten Trojans. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
