New-look Ladycats drop Palestine in hard-fought match

By Mike Eddleman

Coach Sherri Cain knew her volleyball team would be rebuilding this year and inexperience would be their biggest challenge, but the Ladycats may have turned a corner at just the right time with a win Tuesday over Palestine.

In the district opener, Mexia started the critical run for a playoff spot by topping Palestine (25-22, 28-26, 24-26, 24-22). Cain was proud of how her players performed in the match, as well as how they responded to some shifts in position and rotation.

“I was very nervous going in because I made some major changes in our lineup and rotation,” Cain said. “Our girls were not very confident at first about the changes, but it went well for us and after the match they liked the knew rotation.”
