An appeals court has affirmed the conviction of a man convicted of robbing the CVS Pharmacy in Mexia in 2012.

The Tenth Court of Appeals ruled Oct. 4 to affirm the verdict against Mark David McCarty, 56, of Streetman, found guilty of robbery Feb. 12 by a Limestone County jury.

At about 9:30 a.m. June 14, 2012, McCarty entered the pharmacy, approached the pharmacist on duty and demanded narcotics, implying he had a weapon. The pharmacist gave him several bottles of hydrocodone – a powerful and addictive painkiller – and he fled the store.

The Mexia Police Department got information on McCarty’s location – a Motel 6 in Corsicana – less than 48 hours later, and he was arrested by Navarro County sheriff’s deputies.
