County wants LCDC to have interim plan

Limestone County commissioners are talking to a different jail management company than their current one to possibly consider an interim agreement for housing inmates.

LCDC administrator Mike Sutton told the commissioners at last Monday’s meeting that LaSalle Corrections, one of the jail management companies that had bid unsuccessfully last spring to run the private prison, was to come speak with county officials on Thursday.

Management Training Corporation, the company that won the bid and has the current contract to run the jail, is helping the county in its bid to win CAR-XV, a 10-year federal contract to house inmates, but has shown little interest in running the LCDC apart from CAR-XV or a similar contract.
