Mexia Lions Club: finding fulfillment serving others

Several dozen Mexia residents meet regularly for fellowship and to pool their funds and energy to achieve service goals for their community.

The Mexia Lions Club’s active members meet each Tuesday at noon for lunch at their Lions Den on Paris Street. Each member pays monthly dues, which are used to maintain the den, pay for the lunch meals and most of all to further the work of the local and international clubs.

Lions Club International was founded in 1917 as a service organization, its motto “We serve.” The Mexia club was chartered in 1921, so it marked its 90th anniversary in 2011. Some Mexia Lions are the third generation of their families to be members.
