Jacquelyn Venise Craig Gabriel, known as “Jackie,” was the second child born to Jack and Barbara Craig on Dec. 29, 1964 in Mexia. Jackie confessed her life to Christ at an early age at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. Troy Sparks.
Jackie graduated from Mexia High School in 1983 and received an LVN certification from Navarro School of Nursing in 1984. Jackie worked for Mexia State Supported Living Center as an LVN and later UTMB in Teague, and was employed at Teague Nursing Home until her health failed.
Jackie met and married Aubrey Gabriel Sr. in Fairfield, and to this union one child was born: Aubrey Gabriel Jr. She also had her first-born, Chauncey Moore Jr.
Upon marrying Aubrey Gabriel Sr., she later moved her membership to New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Fairfield, and was a faithful member and served as an usher.
Jackie, whose favorite color was pink, was a dedicated mother and wife who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She loved reading, especially romance novels, cooking, and watching sports. She was a “Texas” fan and loved the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Dallas Mavericks.
Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Algie and Cora Lee Craig; and maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Kirven.
Jackie will be missed by all.
