Mexia ISD's board of trustees and Mexia City Council both will call for elections in May to fill board positions when each entity meets early next week.

Both the city and school district must formally call for the elections, which are set for May 10.

There are three slots opening up on the school board: Place 1, currently held by Kent Kendall, who was appointed last summer to fill the slot of Lon Brown, who resigned; Place 4, held by Rachel Hernandez, board secretary; and Place 5, held by Kim Williams, who is board president.

Early voting for this election will be held between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays from April 28 through May 6, at the MISD Administrative Office at 616 N. Red River.
