Sales tax receipts take an upward turn for Mexia

Sales tax distributions to Mexia inched up last month, and are above the amount gathered year-to-date last year.

The city of Mexia re­ceived $200,910 this period, up .14 percent from the $200,626 reported sent in January in 2013.

Revenues this month were up 2.81 percent in Groesbeck, with that town set to receive $55,578 this period compared to $54,055 a year ago. Elsewhere in Limestone County, Kosse saw revenues rise 1.1 percent when compared to the same month a year ago, to $4,499. Thornton’s figure was $1,064, a 4.3 percent decrease from the same month in 2013.

Coolidge saw an increase of 18.95 percent this month, to $1,540, up from $1,294 a year ago.
