Ladycats ready for rematch with Fairfield Lady Eagles

By Mike Eddleman

Push. That’s been the consistent message from Ladycats basketball coach Randy Barger to his team since their loss at Fairfield.

“By the time that game was over with I knew we had to get back to doing what we do,” Barger said. “Our kids were a little hesitant. They didn’t know if they could play with them or if they could run with them.”

Fast forward past three dominant district victories and Mexia is 4-1 in district play, fresh off a victory over rival Groesbeck and staring down a much-anticipated rematch Tuesday with the Lady Eagles.

“When you get beat like we got beat over there, you want to play them again the next day,” Barger said of the 62-33 loss.
