Tee Owens qualifies for state with first at regionals

Mexia’s Tee Owens came away from the finals of the Class 3A, Region III Track Championship held at Turner Stadium in Humble with a first place finish in the Long Jump. Owens distance of 17-5 1/2 was five and a half inches better than second place finisher, Taylor’s Virginia Kerley, who had a mark of 17-0. Owens finished fifth in the 100 Meter Run with a time of 12.30.
Jynesha Jackson came in fourth in the High Jump with a mark of 5-0.
The Ladycats 4x100 Meter Relay team of Taylor Porter, Jackson, Bre Stoner and Owens came in second behind Coldspring-Oakhurst with a time of 48.40 and the 4x200 Meter Relay team of Porter, Owens, Jidaija King and Jackson finished third with a time of 1:43.72 behind first place Hardin-Jefferson and Coldspring-Oakhurst.
