Community rallies to support Perales family

A local business is raising funds to help a family bury their son, who died Thursday in a traffic accident.
“It was with great sadness that we learned about the loss of our deli/bakery partner and friend Javier Perales on Thursday afternoon,” said Craig Mytton, manager of H-E-B. “He will be forever remembered for his kindness, outgoing personality, smile, and how he greeted everyone he met with a kind word.”
Perales, who was 21 when he died, worked at the store for about a year in maintenance, deli and bakery.
He died in a one-vehicle rollover accident May 29 on FM 39.
H-E-B heard of the family’s need to pay for the funeral and other expenses, so delivered food to them Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“We also told them that we knew about their financial need and would do whatever we could to help them out,” Mytton said.
Mexia H-E-B is still accepting donations for the family through Tuesday evening.
