The high school football careers of Wortham Bulldogs Jayce Black and Zach Jones has officially come to a close, but the dynamic duo will now begin their new journeys at the college level.
Black, who played receiver on offense for the Bulldogs, was the team’s leading wideout with 58 catches for 754 yards and nine touchdowns yards this past season.
He’ll use the skills learned at Wortham where he holds the school records for career pass receptions, career receiving yards, season pass receptions, season receiving yards and single game receptions, to help out the offense at Howard Payne University this coming fall.
“I’m a little nervous,” Black said, at the signing held Wednesday morning at the Wortham ISD auditorium. “I feel like I can come in and compete, just like I did here.”
