Jelks’ injury may keep her out for the year

Mexia News Staff Report

Unfortunate news for the Mexia Ladycats volleyball team as one of their leading players, Aniyah Jelks, will be out the rest of the year due to an injury sustained in the powder puff game near the close of the school year.
Jelks tore her ACL and LCL and underwent surgery early last week.
Coach Randy Barger said it’s possible that she might be able to return when basketball season starts or sometime thereafter.
Jelks was a big force for the Ladycats in the front court during last season’s success as the team finished third in district and made it the playoffs, finishing as a bi-district finalist in Class 4A Region III.
