James “Micky” Michael Brooks

James “Micky” Michael Brooks, 63, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday June 10, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was surrounded by family and friends throughout his last days.
He is survived by his wife Shelley Brooks of Nantucket, Mass.; six children, Emily and Sudie Wije, Julie Brooks, Elizabeth Brooks and Christopher Goodwin, Samantha Hartt Brooks, Colin and Ashley Brooks, and Bonnie Brooks and their mother Sara Brooks of Wortham. He also leaves behind four step-children, Pam and Greg Lawrence, Colleen and Eric Ward, Jeff Cronan, and Shannon and Patrick Considine; his sister, Theresa and Michael Molinski; as well as a multitude of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Micky is preceded in death by his mother and father, Leroy and Josephine Brooks; his in-laws, Robert Charles and Helen Thompson; his brother, Charles Anthony Brooks; and nephew, Glynn Franklin Jr.
Micky was born on Aug. 6, 1953 in Houston. He ventured to Wortham later in life and became a rancher. He met Shelley in 2000 and they married in 2004. Micky became a resident of Nantucket, Mass. while maintaining his ranch, “Blue Ridge” in Wortham. He enjoyed his alone time with his land and equipment, but his fondest memories were made with his kids, grandkids, and wife.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 at Corley-Porter Funeral Home in Mexia. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Dallas or Boston, Mass. The Hope Lodge provides housing at no cost for patients receiving nearby cancer treatments. Micky was housed at The Hope Lodge in Boston during his first battle with pancreatic cancer in 2011.
