Leon Jones

Leon Jones went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
He was the fifth of nine children, born May 17, 1950 to Dwain and Jewel Jones, Sr. in Delia, Limestone County. Leon attended public school in both Mart and Mexia. He excepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the Mustang Baptist Church where he loved playing his guitar and singing in service. His favorite song was “On My Way Home.” He worked for Mexia State School and TXI for many years. He retired from Northwestern Resources, Texas Westmoreland Coal after 29 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Those he leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted and loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn Jones; his children: Stephania (Delbert) Davis of Coolidge,  Michael (Donna) Jones of Mansfield, Michelle Jones of The Colony, Tim (Michele) Jones of East Texas and Lena (Calvin) Bonner of Dawson; grandchildren: Tristan, Champelle, Zach, Taylor, Adrianna and Yasmine; great grandchildren: Akayla, Isaiah, Aalayah, Mariah; siblings: Herman (Helen) Pinkard; Rosie (Chester) Gipson; Dwain (Liduvinia) Jones Jr.; Betty (Odell) Harris; Bill (Glenda) Jones;  Albert (Florence) Jones; Charles (Ametta) Jones; Brenda (Johnnie) Kirven; sister-in-laws: Anita Peoples and Gloria (J.L.) Levingston; aunts: Juanita Gee and Patricia Gee; uncle: Alvin Sanders; special friends: Bobby Cooper, Naymond James and Sherman Graves; special cousin: Curtis Jones “Uncle Cousin Curtis” and a host of relatives and friends.
Service and arrangements entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home of Mexia. Service will be held at 12 noon, June 29 at Mustang Baptist Church of Prairie Hill.
