Fairgrounds improvements slowly moving forward

Plans for installing additional horse stalls in the show barn of the Limestone County Fairgrounds are moving slowly, but moving forward. Also, a committee whose goal is to find ways to improve the Fairgrounds is proceeding with plans to add two dressing rooms at the show barn.
County commissioners heard an update on the horse stall project at their July 25 meeting from Fairgrounds Manager Kenneth Ellis.
Ellis said he had found a good price on some horse stalls from a company called Saratoga Stalls, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The company was offering up to 20 lightly used portable horse stalls, located in Houston, for $900 a set. The total price would be $18,000 plus about $1,000 for freight.
“The best price we had so far was between $1,300 and $1,500 a stall,” Ellis told the court.
