The wait is finally over!
Texas high school football has officially begun … as of yesterday.
Area schools hit the field on Monday for the first day of two-a-days, most meeting early in the morning for film study and light walk-throughs, then more practice time in the afternoon, while other teams adhered to just afternoon/evening workouts.
The first few days are basically non-contact.
Equipment was distributed to athletes last week.
The first day of full contact will begin on Friday, Aug. 11.
Next Friday, Aug. 18, the Mexia Blackcats will have their first scrimmage against the Palestine Wildcats here at home. The freshmen and junior varsity squads begin at 5:30 p.m., then the varsity team takes the field at 7 p.m.
Teams from around the Bi-Stone area will scrimmage that day as well.
