Favorable weather, coaches optimistic

Cooler than normal weather was the call to order Monday morning as the first day of two-a-day football practices began for the Mexia Blackcats.
Heavy rains and scattered thunderstorms had been predicted for the Limestone County area, but even damp rain couldn’t stop the players and coaches from going through their drills.
By afternoon, it was the perfect scenario for the team to get in some running and technique drills, plus an opportunity for more Blackcat fans to show up and see this year’s team workout.
The enthusiasm and intensity is high right now as coach Frank Sandoval and his coaching staff look to turn the program back into a championship squad.
