Mexia News Staff Report

The Wortham Lady Bulldogs had a tough row to hoe for the start of the Fairfield Invitational Volleyball Tournament Thursday.
Not only did they start out with Class 5A Corsicana, they then faced another 5A team, the Ennis Lady Lions.
However, the first day ended on a good note as the Lady Bulldogs shutout the Hemphill Lady Hornets, two sets to none.
In the opening match against the Corsicana Lady Tigers, Wortham got off to a slow start, falling in the first set 25-14. In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs played much tougher but fell four points short as Corsicana escaped with the 25-21 win.
