Lady Bulldogs win, even one short

You could say “luck” was on the Wortham Lady Bulldogs side Tuesday night in their match with the Valley Mills Lady Eagles – or not, depending on how you look at it.
The “good luck,” Wortham scored a 3-2 win on the road, 17-25, 25-19, 27-25, 23-25, 15-11. The bad, senior middle-blocker Kayla Lansford left the first set with an ankle injury after a Valley Mills player came across the net and landed on her foot.
Coach DeAnna Whaley ended up having to play with only five players, but the outcome turned out leaning in Wortham’s favor after it was all said and done on the court.
“I’m proud of the hustle and heart my girls showed,” Whaley said. “They didn’t give up and continued to battle throughout the match.”
