The Wortham Lady Bulldogs move to 2-0 at home so far this season, after sweeping the Blooming Grove Lady Lions in three sets Tuesday evening, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.
Junior Ashley Mao led Wortham’s offensive charge with 18 kills and two blocks defensively, while senior Kayla Lansford seemed to be back at 100% on the court after returning from an ankle injury she received a week ago.
Lansford finished the match with 17 kills, four aces and a block.
“I’m very proud of how my girls played tonight,” said head coach DeAnna Whaley. “They started the first match down 0-5 and came back to push for the win, 25-15. They relaxed a little during the second and third sets and had to come from behind to take both wins, but we had solid passes that contributed to our strong hitting from Ashley and Kayla.”
