Short afternoon for the Coolidge Lady Yellowjackets in their three-set sweep over the Mount Calm Lady Panthers, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15, as competition between District 14-2A began on Tuesday.
The win for Coolidge was a complete team effort, led by Tionna Kirven and Jada Hayes, along with fellow teammates Gabriela Samaniego, Monica Pedroza, Smantha Mullins, Erika Samaniego, Tirayae Henry and Amaya Brown. The Lady Yellowjackets were without the services of Sofia Ortiz, who is currently sidelined with an injury.
New head coach William Milton couldn’t have been more pleased with the effort his team gave out on the court Tuesday afternoon on the road.
“I think the girls are a little upbeat … communication has been key for us,” said Milton after the win. “Me as the coach getting used to them and them getting used to me as we’ve talked about before, some of the chemistry is binding together and I think we’re playing pretty well right now.”
