Lady Bulldogs to play silver bracket

The Wortham Lady Bulldogs - coming off a third-place finish at the Leon Volleyball Tournament last weekend and a home win on Tuesday - faced the West Lady Trojans (17-4) in the opening round of pool play at the Groesbeck Varsity Volleyball Tournament
Wortham (8-11) started off sluggish, falling to the Lady Trojans in two sets, 10-25, 18-25.
Things didn’t look well in their second match against the Franklin Lady Lions after they dropped the first set, 24-26.
However, the Lady Bulldogs fought back to take the second set, 25-18, and battled to the end in the tie-breaker to come out on top by two, 25-23, splitting their pool play record at 1-1.
“Franklin was a continuous battle,” said head coach DeAnna Whaley. “I’m very pleased with how hard my girls worked together and continued to hustle and not give up.”
