The Mexia Blackcats closed out the preseason with their final scrimmage against the Rockdale Tigers last Thursday night and according to head coach Frank Sandoval, his team is pumped up and ready for their first regular season game this Friday night in Athens.
After falling to Palestine the week before, the Blackcats regrouped this past week to improve at each position and the results paid off as Mexia beat the Tigers in the live quarter at the end of Thursday night’s scrimmage.
“Offensively, it’s really pleasing when you’ve really harped on something throughout the week at each position and they’ve improved,” Sandoval said.
One of the things the team has worked on is going through their paces at a faster rate and the kids are getting more comfortable with the up tempo.
