First Mexia home football game means – pancakes

The first Blackcat football game of the season kicks off Friday, Sept. 8, and that day also kicks off the Mexia Lions Club’s Double Whammy pancake fundraiser.
Hungry fans will have their choice of either breakfast or dinner – or both – so families don’t have to cook that day.
Tickets are $5 a plate, and that includes large fluffy pancakes with butter and syrup, breakfast sausage and either orange juice or coffee.
People may eat at the Lions Den, 201 N. Paris Street, near the corner of Commerce, or order to-go plates and eat at home or at work. Those who eat at the den are welcome to get “seconds” if they desire.
