With 1:12 remaining in the final quarter of the season opener, the Mexia Blackcats put together one of the best drives of the night against the Athens Hornets.
Starting at their own 27-yard line, quarterback Travion Carter connected with receiver Jadon Proctor for a 14-yard gain, then one play later the Blackcats moved into Athens territory when Davion Carter caught an 11-yard pass.
Carter made a spectacular catch to put Mexia into the red zone at the 12-yard line with 00:11 to go in the game and with no timeouts.
Travion Carter tried to find a receiver in the end zone, but ended up getting flushed out of the pocket and he took off running towards the goal line, however, he came up short and time ran out as Athens ended up hanging on for the 6-0 win.
