Whataburger, located on Milam St. in Mexia, was shut down on Thursday, Sept. 7 after several attempts were made to deal with public complaints and the infestation of insects in and outside the building.
Employees of the local Whataburger declined comment and directed all inquiries to their corporate media relations.
Whataburger Corporate Communications replied, via email, with the following statement, ““Our Mexia restaurant was closed to conduct a thorough cleaning, but has since reopened for business following no violations on a recent inspection. We invite customers to join us for their next meal, and look forward to serving them.”
An initial, unannounced, health inspection was conducted on July 19 after Mexia city Code Enforcement Officer Bruce Glover received a complaint from a patron of the restaurant.
