Tehuacana coffee shop sees its last day

Tehuacana coffee shop Cup of Joe’s had its last business day Saturday, Sept. 2, with some of its faithful customers sitting around one of the tables, part commiserating with owner Bill Ferris, part congratulating him on a good run after three years.
Ferris said his decision to close down was mainly a matter of the time involved, since he had spent about seven hours a day there and didn’t make much of a profit – not that he expected to, he added.
Ferris will re-open the coffee shop one last time on Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 7 p.m. for a final game of trivia, a semi-regular event there, for anyone who wants to come.
“We did trivia once a month,” Ferris said. “I had a friend from Lake Charles come in and he would always do it. We’ve had poetry, guitars and just all kinds of musical functions, saw a couple of movies.”
